LUC FERRY
Luc Ferry is a French philosopher and writer. He received an Agrégation de philosophie (1975), a Doctorat d’Etat en science politique (1981), and an Agrégation de science politique (1982). He served as the Minister of Education and Research and during his tenure, he was the minister in charge of the implementation of the French law on secularity and conspicuous religious symbols in schools. He is a notable proponent of secular humanism.
He is the author of the national bestseller A Brief History of Thought.
He is a columnist for the Figaro and Radio Classique, he is honorary president of the Ecole Polytechnique d’Assurance’s scientific committee of the on big data and digital, in order to create a MBA ‘ scientist data in the insurance world’.
He has been awarded the Prix Médicis, Prix Jean-Jacques-Rousseau, and Prix Aujourd’hui, in addition to being an officer of the French Legion of Honor and a knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.
